Lecture Summary

Osseointegration at marginal defects around implants

Artificially created marginal defects around implants represent a well-established model to study variables of interest for immediate implant installation. During the lecture, various animal experiments, in which different variables were applied, will be illustrated and the results discussed.

Immediate implant installation into alveolar sockets: suggestions from experimental studies

Implant installation into alveolar sockets immediately after tooth extraction is nowadays considered a reliable technique. However, many variables that can affect the final outcome should be considered during surgery. This lecture will address many of these variables such as implant positioning, implant size, augmentation procedures, presence/absence of the adjacent teeth, flapless procedure.
